About the School


The Queen Sonja School Prize 2008


Løkenåsen School is one of four lower secondary comprehensive schools in the municipality of Lørenskog situated in the County of Akershus in the vicinity of Oslo.


There are approximately 335 students aged from 13 to 16, and 30 teachers, a librarian, a social worker and three assistants at the school.


The school has an activity centre for the students outside school hours.  It is open from 07.45 - 08.30, 11.00 - 12.00 and from 14.00 - 16.00, and provides food, games and music.


The school has a section for severely handicapped students. There are eight teachers and assistants.  Presently there are four students in this section.


The school administers the municipal teachers for multicultural students. There are in all 15 teachers from 13 different cultures.  Approximately 20% of the students in the municipality have another language than Norwegian as their mother tongue.
